Located an easy 8 min drive from our Gillards Road cellar door Cafe Enzo has been a Hunter Valley institution since 1996, set amongst the sandstone buildings of Peppers Creek Village. You’ll find Campos coffee and one of the most picturesque place to enjoy it in the Hunter Valley. If you’ve never had a breakfast board, Café Enzo is your go-to place. Choose between the vegetarian board featuring poached eggs, feta, and asparagus or the meat option loaded with ham, roasted tomatoes, and pesto. Sally’s go-to is the ham breakfast board and enjoyed in the morning sunshine in the umbrella covered courtyard, you could honestly think you’ve been transported to Tuscany. Make sure you book your table, especially on weekends, becuase although walk-ins are welcome it’s always busy and you don’t want to fond yourself disapointed.

The Deck (Lovedale): Indulge in Sweet or Savoury Delights

Located in Lovedale just 15 mins from our cellar door, The Deck is located at Gartlemann Wines run by owner and chef Matt Dillow. The deck itself looks out over the dam and if the weather is good request an outside table. Expect a mix of sweet breakfast offereings waffles, pancakes, and French toast, as well as numerous options for the more savoury appetite.

Restaurant Cuvée (Pokolbin): A Touch of Sparkle

Located just 8 mins from our cellar door on the corner of Broke Rd and Wine Country Drive, Restaurant Cuvée at Peterson House is best known for its Bubbly Breakfast — a full cooked breakfast with a glass of Peterson House sparkling included. Head chef Chad Pridue runs a modern Australian menu built around seasonal, local produce. Worth the slightly higher price tag for a first or last morning of a Hunter Valley trip.

Arthur’s (Cessnock): Instagram-worthy Brekkie

Just a 15 min drive from our cellar door at 1E Cooper Street, Arthur’s is run by Blake Gontier and Noah Leonard, the team behind Cessnock’s Mr O wholefoods café. The French toast with Swiss meringue and lemon curd is the standout order, and the space is bright and modern rather than the rustic-cottage look most Hunter Valley cafés go for. Open from 6:30am on weekdays — handy if you want breakfast before an early cellar door start. Plus, if you’re looking for somewhere gluten-free this is a popular spot with plenty of options.

Simply D’Vine (Cessnock): A Green Breakfast Haven

Those with a green thumb will love this place, just two minutes north of Cessnock at 151 Wine Country Drive, Nulkaba. Located within the local garden centre, Simply D’Vine offers excellent coffee and a vast range of breakfast options, including some delicious vegetarian choices. If you’re mad about plants, don’t miss this local favourite. There’s also a gift gallery and some local fashion to have a browse after you’ve had breakfast.
